Liam Neeson is Bryan Mills in Taken

What will you do if your daughter calls you from the other end of the world and she is abducted by strangers? Probably you will just freeze on the place where you are standing while listening to the other line where you hear your daughter scream for her life. But not to this father I know. His name is Bryan Mills.
"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you're looking for a ransom, I can tell you, I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills acquired over a very long career in the shadows, skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that will be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you. And I will kill you."

These are the words that Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) said before the kidnappers of her daughter hang up the phone. Bryan is a retired Government Spy, part time security personel to VIPs and ex husband to Lenore (Famke Janssen). Though Lenore had already remarry, Bryan still visits often for her daughter Kim (Maggie Grace). Everything seems to be going fine (except for the uneasy relationship with Lenore's new husband), Bryan and Lenore's world turn upside down when Bryan found out that their daughter is abducted. Because of this turn of events, Bryan had no choice but to go and took the mantle of his spy persona once again. Now Bryan travels to Paris to hunt his daughter's abductors one by one.

I don't really expect Liam Neeson to be this badass. I only saw him in Star Wars and Batman Begins but the Liam Neeson you will see in this film has a serious butt kicking business to deal with. Not only that, the fact that he played a very interesting role of an ex spy really excites me especially if you work with the government. It could be the coolest job (and risky I suppose) you'll ever get. If I have a father like Bryan Mills, I can say that I have more reasons to feel VIP compared to sons and daughters of the President. Imagine if something happens to me, my father will retaliate and will hunt them wherever they are. I'm very sure no one will ever attempt to do something bad to us.

Frankly, the other stars didn't do anything special at all since most of the scenes are shot with Liam Neeson. The movie is so action packed that you can't even notice the other characters because you just want Liam to look for the bad guys and do his thing. The movie overall is a brave attempt of exposing a syndicate based in Europe. After watching the movie, Paris became a very dangerous place not only for me but almost to everyone, but I believe they still managed to preserve the city's reputation in terms of security. I would also want to commend the director Pierre Morel for his fantastic work on this film.

Taken could sound just like an average action, thriller and mystery flick but if you got the chance to see it, you will definitely enjoy every scene. It is still showing in the local cinema here in the Philippines so grab those popcorns and enjoy the hunt.

Taken is produced by Twentieth Century Fox and locally distributed by Viva International Pictures.
