1995 when Judge Dredd hits the cinemas world wide and it is really cool back then to see a high budgeted comic book movie with a lot of action and special effects. Not to mention it stars Sylvester Stallone which I honestly believe that looks cool on the Judge Dredd Suit. But I just found out that there is a reboot coming on 2012 starring Karl Urban (LOTR, Star Trek) that aims to make a better version.


Judging the photo above, it looks like the production is aiming for a more realistic approach. Sly's Judge Dredd looks very artificial and too comical. It kinda looks like the same vision of Nolan when he did the new generation of Batman film and this Judge Dredd will be much closer to the comic version. I'm really looking forward to see more on this film.

The film is to be directed by Pete Travis (Vantage Point) with a script by Alex Garland (28 Days later). The cast currently consists of Karl Urban as Judge Dredd and Olivia Thirlby as Judge Anderson. Dredd is due to be released in 2012 in 3-D under DNA Films and IM Global.
