Disney Pixar First Hi Res Image of Merida, New Poster and New Website

This is the first time I'm posting something about this upcoming Disney Pixar project.  It didn't really notice it before because of the cloudy information and blurry (bootleg) images released online.  But now that the production released official materials for the movie, I can say that the movie completely caught my attention.

Preliminary high resolution render of Merida.  Possibly not the final look.

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In “Brave,” a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts.

Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.
The next images are character concept arts of 4 of the main characters: Merida, Queen Elinor, Wise Woman and Lord Macintosh.

Princess Merida (voiced by Kelly MacDonald) and Queen Elinor (voiced by Emma Thompson)

The Wise Woman (voiced by Julie Walters) and Lord MacIntosh (voiced by Craig Ferguson)

This is indeed very interesting.  As an epic fantasy lover like me, this is the kind of movie that I'm longing to see under Pixar's hands.  Looking forward to see more info about this movie.

Coming on Summer 2012, Brave (official site) will be released and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.
