Whoa, I really thought Emily Browning's Sleeping Beauty is like a reimagining of a fairy tale like Amanda Seyfried's Red Riding Hood or Kristen Stewart's upcoming Snow White film.  But it seems that me and most people are wrong.  Just saw the trailer and it is not really I'm expecting.




So far the movie is described as "A haunting erotic fairytale about Lucy, a young University student drawn into a mysterious hidden world of beauty and desire".  According to the trailer Browning's character, Lucy will be involved on a syndicate who peddles woman as prostitutes.  Sounds familiar?  Hahaha yeah.  It somehow resembles the plot of her recently concluded film, Sucker Punch.


But unlike Sucker Punch, Sleeping Beauty looks hardcore.  I can't even embed the video here on my blog (I'm trying to reinstate my adsense so no nudity from now on). The trailer includes a scene where the patrons of the brothel is in a living room while Browning and the other girls are serving on their lingerie and some of them are bending over on the fireplace completely naked.


I know as man maybe I should be excited to see this. But then again this kind of films makes me very uncomfortable. The Black Swan turns me on with Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman but the overall movie really disturbs me. As much as I want to see Browning (and the other girls) naked, in the end game I will still judge it according to how I relate to its story.

But yeah that's absolutely just for me. I'm just really not fond on watching disturbing independent films. I'm sure there are a lot of people who are excited to see it including the jurors of Cannes Film Festival when they officially considered the film on this year's festival.
