HBO Wins 4 Awards from 2010 Golden Globe

it is my great honor to share to everyone that HBO received four wins at the 67th Annual Golden Globe® Awards announced yesterday in Los Angeles. The award-winning titles are:

  • Grey Gardens, 2 wins for: Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, and Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Drew Barrymore).
Based on the lives that inspired the Maysles Brothers' classic documentary, this HBO Original Movie tells the story of "Big Edie" Beale (Jessica Lange) and her daughter, "Little Edie"(Drew Barrymore) – two charming eccentric relatives of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (Jeanne Tripplehorn) – who forged a unique bond while living in a ramshackle East Hampton mansion. Told over the span of four decades, this drama focuses on their glamorous and well-heeled lives long before the making of the documentary and on the circumstances behind their riches-to-rags story.
Grey Gardens premieres in mid-2010 on HBO Signature.
  • BIG LOVE, 1 win for: Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Chloë Sevigny).
As if juggling three wives wasn't tricky enough, this HBO Original Series finds modern polygamist Bill Henrickson (Bill Paxton) tackling problems outside his three-house suburban home. The power struggles between first wife Barb (Jeanne Tripplehorn), second wife Nicki (Chloë Sevigny) and third wife Margene (Ginnifer Goodwin) continue. And then there are the assorted family troubles he has to deal with including the growing pains of his two oldest, Sarah and Ben, and the endless challenges brought on by his brother, their father and mother - not to mention three mothers-in-law! Bold, funny and wholly original, BIG LOVE continues to explore the evolving institution of marriage through this typically atypical family.
A new season of BIG LOVE premieres in May 2010 on HBO
  • Taking Chance, 1 win for: Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Kevin Bacon).
Based on the first-person account of US Marine Lieutenant Colonel Michael Strobl (Kevin Bacon), this HBO Original Movie follows his poignant journey as the volunteer military escort officer assigned to accompany the body of a young fellow Marine killed in action in Iraq, across America back to his hometown of Dubois, Wyoming. Chronicling one of the silent, virtually unseen journeys that take place every day across the US, this drama bears witness to the fallen and all those who, literally and figuratively, carry them home.
TAKING CHANCE premieres in mid-2010 on HBO Signature.

Also watch out for Toni Collette (awarded for Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series - Comedy Or Musical) in her turn as a suburban mother who juggles her family and career while suffering from a multiple identity disorder when UNITED STATES OF TARA premieres on HBO in 2010.
