Human Perfection Goes Wrong in “Surrogates”

In a not so distant future. Year 2017, Humans had developed a way to enjoy everything in a total isolation of their own homes. Believing that home is the only safe place for them, they created robot duplicates called Surrogates to act as themselves in the real world. The technology allows the user to control and navigate to their surroundings, experience human interactions including physical and intimate sensations. But everything changes when one day a Surrogate is murdered. But the plot thickens when Agent Greer (Bruce Willis) found out that the host of the murdered Surrogate is also dead. Little thing he know that this case is just a front of a conspiracy involving the Surrogate phenomenon. Now, Agent Greer is forced to disconnect from his Surrogate and be back to the real world to learn the truth and unravel the mystery.

Directed by Jonathan Mostow (“Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines”), and presented by Touchstone Pictures comes a Sci-fi flick starring Bruce Willis (Die Hard 4.0), Radha Mitchell (“Pitch Black”), Rosamund Pike (“Die Another Day”) and Vhing Rames (“Mission Impossible”). The movie is based on a comic book written by Robert Venditti, drawn by Brett Weldele, and published by Top Shelf Productions. Never read the comic book but I get interested with the idea of having remote body doubles that you can control at home. Though I don't really have good faith on Mostow because of his work on Terminator 3, I hope he can redeem himself in this film.

Opening September 25 across the Philippines, “Surrogates” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International.
