The Origins Revealed, X-men Origins: Wolverine

"I'm the best there is at what I do. But what I do isn't very nice."

1845, exactly 165 years ago in Canada Wolverine's tale started as the young James Howlett. While sick on his bed, James overheard his father and Victor Creed's father fighting. The fight leads to Jame's father's death. Because of the incident James first manifested his mutation by showing his bone claws and used it to kill Victor's father. But before he died, James learned that Victor's father is none other than his real father and Victor is his brother. James and Victor left the manor and live their days as soldiers. Up to this very moment.

And that is how James "Logan" Howlett's life started before he became the X-man we know. The X-man, Wolverine.

At last after the movie being leaked online, The movie still reached the Philippine shores peacefully and calmly. Last night's advance screening is a hit. The cinema in Gateway mall Cubao here in the Philippines are full of people from comic geeks to hugh jackman fans. Together with friend bloggers and friends from media, we all agree that X-men Origins: Wolverine did very well.

First of all no doubt Hugh Jackman is a good actor. From being the boy from Oz where he played a gay choreographer to being a fully pledged action star in X-Men Series of movies and being one of the most anticipated dramatic actor in movies such as The Prestige with Christian Bale and Australia with Nicole Kidman. Now he is back to reprise his role as the Adamantium claw weilding mutant healer from the X-Men franchise. This time we will be chronicling his past from his youth up to the time he undergoes the unfamous Weapon X program under William Stryker (Danny Huston). Among the actors in the movies, among of them that stands the most are Liev Schreiber who played Logan's brother, Victor Creed aka Sabretooth, Taylor Kitsch as Remy LeBeau aka Gambit and Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson aka Deadpool.

Writer also did a very good job on giving most of the character's balanced exposure. No one is under exposed. Everyone got their enough share of screen time. it is also a good idea of featuring known mutants in X-Men universe in their pre teen years like Emma Frost and Scott Summers. The writer also gave Logan and Victor's relationship a justice providing us a little Brotherly love action on screen (ok that doesn't sound good, hahahaha).

What I found very confusing about the movie is the identity of the final villain. I will not mention who he is but I'm really confused and according to some article online, most people are pissed about it, though I need to consult a Wolverine/Weapon X Expert about this since I didn't really have indepth reading in Wolverine's saga. The special effects are also so-so, example is the effects on Emma Frost's powers that appears to be old school mapping technique rather than making a 3D modeled diamond version of the character.

But despite the minor flaws in special effects, X-Men origins had lived to everyone's expectations for a solo Wolverine flick. A very big congratulations to the cast, Gavin Hood the Director and Hugh Jackman as the executive Producer. I can say that despite the leakage, X-Men Origins will still earn for the quality entertainment it provided not only to comicbook afficionados like us but also to plain movie lovers.

So be ready for the Worldwide Premiere of this movie event this coming May 1. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is brought to us by Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation.
