Resident Evil Retribution Trailer: A Big Sony Commercial

Just saw the trailer of Resident Evil Retribution.  I just burst into laughter because I really thought I'm watching a big commercial ad of Sony.  Watch the trailer to see what I mean.

The Umbrella Corporation's deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race's last and only hope, ALICE (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella's most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.

See?  But I believe this is completely intentional.  Talking about hitting two birds with one stone.  But what I don't really like is how Resident Evil is now going forward to a more futuristic execution.  With all those technology, the concept of Zombie apocalypse is becoming more illogical.

In the good side, I'm just happy to hear more characters from the game entering like Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong to be played by Johann Urb and  Bingbing Li repectively.  Some characters from the past are also coming back like Luther West (Boris Kudjoe), Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory), and the long dead Rain Ocampo (Michelle Rodriguez).  There is no word if Chris (Wentworth Miller) and Claire (Ali Larter) Redfield will return but I really wish that they do because I don't think they can have any life on a world full of Zombie so I can't see any reason for them not appearing on this sequel.

When I saw Afterlife I already accepted the fact that Resident Evil movie can never be the game.  So from that point I already conditioned myself not to compare the movie to the game.  And it turns out, Afterlife becomes one of the best film on the franchise.  But with the latest development in retribution, I'm kinda having reservation because like what I've mentioned earlier, I don't like the futuristic theme that the movie is trying to achieve.

I really hope I'm wrong.  Coming on Philippine cinemas some time on September 2012, from Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.
