Flores De Mayo: The Enchanted Style

144 years ago in Malolos Bulacan, a group of girls had gathered to offer flowers to Mother Mary in a parish church. And there is where Flores de Mayo is first witnessed. Now every summer Filipinos celebrate this Catholic tradition with beautiful women dressed in elegant dresses that parades the whole town or city.

Last May 30, I witnessed this traditional event inside a theme park. Enchanted Kingdom invited me together with some blogger friends to watch this year's Enchanted Flores De Mayo. Though the day experienced rain fall, Flores de Mayo pushed through inside the Eldar's Tent with some of the theme park's guest to witness this year's parade.

The program started at exactly 6:00pm. The Zagalas and Escort started walking from the stage then they continue walking around the Tent just to simulate the parade that is originally planned outside. Of course people enjoyed the sight. Men enjoyed looking at beautiful Models and pageant candidates (Ms. Philippines Earth and Ms. Bikini Philippines), while women enjoyed the site of fine men as Escorts.

Here are the complete list of the Zagala and Escorts:

1. MJ Maycon - Raymond Burgos
2. Gemma Heaton - Rex Espinel
3. Heidi Forbes - Carlo Torres
4. Marjorie Mangundayao - Nino Benedicto
5. Reynalyn de Mesa - Gilbert Ley

7. Lizette Atangan - Jeff Forbes
8. Mina Nera - Merick Lumagui
9. April Love Jordan - John Gorrospe

14. Maja Muhamed - Dayelle Chowdhary

16. Cecile De Castro - Raymond Burgos

SLIMMER/ MS. BIKINI PHILS.
17. Jocel Gimenez Kusain - 2nd Runner Up
18. Mariella Castillo - 1st Runner Up

21. Alexis Sy Go - Ms. Phils-Earth Runner Up 2009

25. Razel Eguia - Ms. Phils-Earth Air 2008

EK
26. Bea Mamon - Bodie Cruz
27. Cris Mago
28. Dr. Cynthia Mamon, Ph.D

And it is also evident that the Flores De Mayo is nothing without the elegant dresses designed by the Manila's Prince of Avant Garde Jun-jun Cambe and Fashion Designers Association's President Johnny Abad.

Then the Flores De Mayo ended with the parade of the event's Hermana Mayora, Dr. Cynthia Mamon, Ph.D, Enchanted Kingdom’s VP for SMILE (Sales, Marketing, Imagineering, Leisure and Entertainment) together with her daughter Bea Mamon who is escorted by Bodie Cruz and Cris Mago.

So despite the heavy downpour the event is successful and ended up with another installment of the Enchante: Musical that I already experienced a month ago.

What a wonderful day of experiencing our country's Heritage.
